Who is Alex Carmon? If you don’t already know, most call him “AC”, the Long Beach Poly High School Graduate (2011) who played three years of Varsity for coach Sharrief Metoyer, is the founder of Long Beach’s authority in the High School Basketball media scene, Beach City Hoops.

Carmon created the Beach City Hoops platform knowing what he was going up against – the SLAM’s or Ball-is-life’s of the world, but says “I started BCH because I felt their is a lot of talent out there that is not on display and I wanted to change that.”

And change is what he is doing. Carmon, the 2011 CIF State Champion his senior year, says “I want to help kids get to the next level, D1, D2, D3, whatever…I do this because I want to see these kid’s education paid for.” A former college basketball player, Carmon played for Academy of Art in San Francisco and finished his final two seasons at Cal State East Bay in the SF Bay Area.

AC is not just aimlessly going to games, banking on youtube monetization, he really cares about the youth and only someone who could give you buckets can do that! One of hardest working in the game and he continues to gain a following, respect from pears, and the support of the community. The sky is the limit for Beach City Hoops and it’s players!

Why are you reading this article? AC has been a good friend to me. He has shown that he is a student of the craft by asking questions, he’s not afraid to speak his mind, and he constantly lends a helping hand when or if I need something. I can only imagine what he does for the people in Long Beach and surrounding areas. If you would see the circumstances this young man is going through to make his channel exist and help these ball players get exposure, he is the definition of a grind! He uses a really old computer (hella slow!) I saw for myself at Tarkanian in Vegas…but he doesn’t let that stop him…he cranks out content like no tomorrow!! In addition, he and his work continue to get better. Not too many people have the heart of this kid. He pays out of pocket for all his trips and currently works for a local Long Beach Newspaper group, using that money and putting it directly into the BCH platform. Oh yea, he shoots handheld on a DSLR, one of the hardest things to master at the live sports level!
