Antioch, CA has been the birthplace of some of Northern California’s top high school basketball players in recent years. Cal’s Marcus Lee (McDonald’s All American / Deer Valley 2013), St. Mary’s Tim Williams (Antioch 2008), Oklahoma State’s Kendall Smith (Nike EYBL Peach Jam Champion -Deer Valley 2013) & older brother Quincy Smith (Hawaii / Deer Valley 2012) to name a few.

But you clicked this to read about the future, and that’s Jaden Phillips. In two games thus far as we enter the 2017-2018 High School season, Jaden has shown his fearlessness, maturity, and most importantly his confidence at the Varsity level. Now let us not get carried away, he is only a Freshman in High School…but his potential has no limit. Not many kids get the four year varsity experience like Jaden is. On Saturday, November 25th at the Guy Emmanuel Tipoff Classic held at James Logan, Phillips displayed an array of pull up jumpers and the ability to blow by a well coached Monte Vista (Danville, Ca) defense. He recorded nine points in the first quarter and finished the game with 12. Not bad for the Rookie. In a game we covered the week before against Northgate (Walnut Creek), again he showcased how hard he has been working since coming off of a broken hand earlier in the fall. Jaden has great court vision, and loves the game & that is evident. He truly is special and has many supporters and fans, including CaliHoop.

We will be following Jaden this season and we encourage you do the same…because he is going to develop into a high level College Prospect in the coming years.

The Panthers hosts Dublin High School tonight who have 2018 Conner Jackson, 2020 Robbie Beasley, and a great supporting cast playing for Coach Costello. It should be a fun game to watch if you are in the area.

Check out some video highlights of Jaden from the EBC Camp as a 7th Grader…SMOOTH!
