The 8th Annual Nor Cal Clash takes place Sunday Aug 27th at 3:00PM in San Pablo, CA. Gerry Freitas, director of HoopReview.Net, who also hosts The Nor Cal Clash for nearly a decade now, stressed to play good basketball and to not fall into the “All Star Game” mentality. The teams have some serious talent.

Director Gerry Freitas + JoVan / Jaden McClanahan (2019 Twins from Salesian)

I had a chance to catch up with the twins – who did terrific in Vegas this summer. Jaden (Right) is feeling the best he’s felt since suffering a foot injury from Football which left him out for most of last High School season. The McClanahan’s played for the Oakland Soldiers 16U – when asked what they are most excited about for their upcoming junior seasons at Salesian High, they both mentioned defense.

2019 Keyshad Johnson
2019 Raymond Hawkins

2019 Ray Hawkins cleared up the rumors of him transferring from Bishop O’Dowd. This means he will be a big part of the Dragon’s anticipated success as 2018’s Naseem Gaskin and Elijah Hardy and the Dragon’s Basketball Program led by Lou Richie look to make a run for The CIF Open Division State Championship.

2018 James Akinjo

2018 James Akinjo (Salesian), The 2017 Nike Peach Jam MVP continues to show why he is considered one of the top point guards in the Nation. He brings an old school “I don’t feel sorry for you – hoop is hoop” mentality and is one of few players I’ve seen take pride in locking you up and embarrassing you…His biggest strength is his ability to change his speed in the half court set and hit the midrange better anyone in the class. He is also a LOCKDOWN defender…big year ahead for Akinjo and the Pride.

2018 Logan Johnson

Another 2018 – Logan Johnson (St. Francis), younger brother of Miami Heat’s Tyler Johnson, had a great summer and a nice showing at practice for the seniors. Johnson is one of the top prospects in Nor Cal and is going to be in the race for WCAL Player of the Year.

2018 Mason Forbes

2018 Mason Forbes (Folsom) just keeps getting better. This kid doesn’t let his fro get in the way of his dunks, blocks, and strong finishes. A mobile big who can run the floor with the best of them – has great hands and can finish at the rim any way he wants…be on the lookout from a huge senior season from Mason Forbes.
