On October 8th, 2016 Elijah Hardy was one of the most impressive players in KP’s Nor Cal Select Camp in San Francisco, showing a preview of what’s to come his junior year at Bishop O’dowd. On October 9th Gerry Freitas held the Nor Cal Fall Showcase in the very same gym at City College of San Francisco. CaliHoop put together a Bay Team coached by Stiev Boyd and a Sac Team coached by Don Manning-Fuimaono. Elijah Hardy is one 10 others to play for the Bay roster for CaliHoop. Each team played 1 game and later faced each other in an unofficial Sac v Bay matchup that the whole gym seemed to be watching. After Sacramento gave Division 3 State Champions Manteca a tough loss (at one point Sac led by 20), the CaliHoop Bay Team took on West Coast Fire. Elijah Hardy wasn’t forcing shots or ball hogging the kid just hit shot after shot (in a row) and his teammates seemed to see something special going on. It got to the point where the gym got quiet and all you would hear is an “ooh” or an “aww” after his 4th, 5th, 6th, even 7th shot he connected on. Elijah even managed to put a smile on the face of Freitas and at that point everyone in the gym knew they witnessed something incredible. In my decade of filming high school basketball, I have personally never witnessed a kid put on this type of quiet performance. Elijah is a very humble ball player but his game is powerful as his strengths are not limited to just passing and facilitating anymore. After playing back to back games, the Bay team fell short to the Sac team in a battle of All Stars. Check out Elijah’s epic performance here:
